Dr Peter Schemmel

Peter Schemmel received his BSc in Physics cum laude, in 2011, from the Illinois Institute of Technology. During this time he developed x-ray diffraction instrumentation for biophysical experiments at the Advanced Photon Source synchrotron. He completed a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Manchester in 2014. During his time in Manchester, Peter worked on the generation, detection and characterisation of millimetre wavelength orbital angular momentum beams. Since finishing his PhD, Peter has been working as a research associate at Heriot-Watt University, conducting stress measurments on ceramics and composites, utilising sub-millimetre wavelength imaging techniques.
